Massachusetts health care — wonky, with a healthy dose of reality

Patient Safety Awareness Week is Here!

Patient Safety Awareness Week is Here!

March 5, 2013

This week marks Patient Safety Awareness Week (learn more on the website of the National Patient Safety Foundation).

Health Care For All is observing the week with a series of guest blogs about patient safety. Over the next few days look for commentary from Jim Conway, Paula Griswold, Winnie Tobin, and Dr. Alan Woodward. There are many statewide and individual organizational efforts taking place across Massachusetts to improve patient safety. And Massachusetts is one of many states that has seen a growing effort among consumer advocates to speak up for safer care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Health Care For All has been leading the way with its legislative and regulatory policy change work. Thanks to the stories of many volunteers over the past 6 ½ years, we have made a big difference in care in Massachusetts. Learn more about our legislative victories in the areas of patient safety and healthcare quality on the HCFA website. Also, you can view the many personal stories told by the brave individuals and families who wanted to make sure what happened to them and their loved ones did not happen to someone else.
