Statement of Stephen Gorrie, Chair, Board of Directors for Health Care For All

BOSTON -- “The Board of Directors has appointed Stephen Rosenfeld as Interim Director of Health Care For All (HCFA). Steve brings decades of experience in health access and health benefits law, health care consumer protection and long-term disability law. He is a well-respected leader in the health care community and a longstanding advocate for access to mental health services. He served as chief legal counsel and chief of staff to Governor Michael Dukakis.

“As a former member of the Board of Directors, Rosenfeld has a deep commitment to HCFA’s mission. He founded Health Law Advocates Inc., a nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to gaining access to health care for vulnerable populations in Massachusetts. Additionally, Steve  has acted as a senior legal adviser and board member at Community Catalyst, a national non-profit consumer advocacy organization whose first priority is quality affordable health care for all.

“With this appointment, the board is now ready to launch a search for the new Executive Director. The search committee will be looking for a highly skilled manager with a deep knowledge of health care who can build on HCFA’s success and articulate a vision for how it can continue to empower consumers to achieve lasting policy change.”
