Health Care For All's Statement Regarding the Extension of the Special Enrollment Period For Health Insurance Until June 23rd
Boston. -- "Health Care For All applauds the decision by the Massachusetts Health Connector and the Division of Insurance to extend the Special Enrollment Period that was opened amid the COVID-19 pandemic until June 23rd. In these uncertain times, when many Massachusetts residents are confronting health care issues and financial instability, having access to health insurance is essential.
"With unemployment claims climbing exponentially, our HelpLine has assisted many families who lost their source of income and with that their employer-sponsored health insurance. The HelpLine has also heard in the last two months from numerous individuals who wanted to apply for coverage after being uninsured for several years. It is critical to keep the doors open for residents who need to access health services during the pandemic, not only for COVID-19 testing and treatment, but also for other health needs including physical, oral and behavioral health care."
"With this announcement and other emergency policies implemented in the past several months, Massachusetts is showing once again its clear leadership and commitment to coverage and care, as policymakers, advocates, providers and insurers work together to find ways to remove barriers that prevent residents from accessing critical services."
