Amy Rosenthal brings over two decades of legislative, policy and advocacy experience to the organization at a critical time for the health care advocacy movement.
(Boston, MA) – Health Care For All (HCFA) announced today the appointment of Amy F. Rosenthal as its new Executive Director. Rosenthal picks up the torch from Steve Rosenfeld, who has led the organization as Interim Director since October 2016.
“The Board of Directors has successfully concluded a search that attracted highly qualified candidates by selecting Amy Rosenthal as the next leader of HCFA,” said Marcia Hams, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Both her professional qualifications and management skills make her the ideal candidate to lead the organization in such critical times when the progress we made towards providing access to affordable and high-quality care for all is under attack.”
Rosenthal brings almost 25 years of expertise in health care, public policy, politics, and philanthropy and a wide variety of prior experience in multiple sectors – hospitals, state government, political campaigns, a foundation, and non-profit advocacy organizations.
Rosenthal will leave her current post as the Director of External Affairs & Campaigns at Community Catalyst (CC), where she has held several key positions since 2006. As such, she has played a leadership role within Protect Our Care, a coalition of national organizations engaged in the current health care defense efforts; worked with the White House and Health and Human Services during the Obama Administration on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA); led CC’s federal agenda and work with other national organizations, Congressional offices, and agency staffers; and co-led CC’s campaign to pass the Affordable Health Care. She also provided senior leadership for the Community Catalyst Action Fund, a c4 organization, and all organizational campaigns, including Medicaid expansion, children’s health care and the dental access project.
“Leaving Community Catalyst was not an easy decision, as I have dedicated 11 years of my life to its mission and wonderful staff. However, this move felt like a natural transition for me,” said Amy Rosenthal, new Executive Director of Health Care For All, and added: “This is a critical moment in our country’s history, and we cannot take a step backwards in terms of the coverage and quality gains we have made. Massachusetts has always been a national leader in part because Health Care for All has made sure the consumer is part of important health care decisions. It is a privilege to take on this leadership role at this very important organization.”
As Executive Director of Health Care For All, Rosenthal will provide overall strategic leadership for the organization and be responsible for ensuring and strengthening its financial health. She will play a pivotal role in the development and execution of all policy, legislative, fundraising strategies and initiatives.
Amy lives in Lexington, MA and is married to Marc Rosenthal, a pediatrician with expertise in developmental pediatrics who works at Atrius Health. She is the proud mother of two, Emily (12) and Owen (9).
Amy Rosenthal will assume the role of Executive Director officially on June 26th 2017.
